What's new at Crossroads Village Apartments?
We now have a multi-page website. On the "Contact Us" page, there is a webform you can use to email the office. This might be handy after hours for reporting non-emergency issues while it is on your mind. You will also find the current newsletter and archives there. Refer responsible friends to the site for details about our community. Remember...if you refer them, and they sign a 12-month lease, you get a $200 referral bonus in their second full month of tenancy. The website can be found at http://www.crossroadsvillage.net .
Please...be considerate of your neighbors.
Grassy areas are NOT a dump station for pets! Think about this a minute.
How would you feel if you woke up one morning and stepped on something squishy as you walked to your car? Doesn’t sound bad? What if you looked down to find that squishy mess was actually a pile of dog poop? Would you be angry, irritated, or disgusted? Or would you think it was okay and just walk back in the house to change your shoes?
Now take that a step further, what if your little one was playing outside and thought that pile of dog poop was mud and put it in his/her mouth? Would you still be okay with someone else letting their pet “do business” on the property?
Children are out of school, and are playing outside more. Please...take the time to respect your neighbors. DO NOT take your pets to the playgrounds or the grassy areas around the buildings to relieve themselves. Please take them away from the buildings near the fences, and then clean up after them. What This Means: Pick up the poop, place it in a plastic bag, tie the bag, and throw it in the dumpster!

Is Your Child Safe When Playing Outside?
Child abduction continues to be a serious problem in the United States, with an estimated 58,200 children abducted in 1999 by non-family members. During the summer months when children are magnetically drawn to the outside world, the problem increases.
Herman B. Gray, M.D., chief of staff of Children's Hospital of Michigan, believes that parents should begin to teach their children about not going anywhere with strangers as soon as they can clearly understand who strangers are.
Dr. Gray advises parents to make sure to speak simply, in words that the child uses regularly or understands regularly. For example, "a stranger is someone not in our family like mommy or daddy or Susie or Grandma." Or, "there are a few bad people in the world who may want to hurt little boys and girls, and we don't always know someone is bad just by looking at them." If the child does not seem to understand, you're probably speaking above their level of comprehension, Dr. Gray says.
Gray advises against telling toddlers and pre-schoolers about abductions. "I believe it is unnecessarily frightening, he says. "Small children should always be in the care and direct supervision of an adult who should be protecting them against an abduction. There's fairly little toddlers or pre-schoolers can do to protect themselves."
Studies of child abductors have revealed that:
~ Only 10% to 17% used physical force to secure their victims.
~ Most abductors attempt to develop a relationship with the child or verbally entice the child.
~ Young children may be highly susceptible to the lures of potential abductors. One study found that 90 % of children ages 3-6, who were approached by a personable adult posing as an abductor, went with the abductor.
Child abductors can quickly lure a small child from public playgrounds and common areas of apartment complexes. Children should never be left unattended.
And please...do not allow children to play in the parking lots. Some of the smaller ones are too short to be seen behind a vehicle when backing out.
Never assume that another adult is watching your children. Instead, think of yourself as an extra set of eyes for the other family's kids, and vice-versa.
When is rent due?
Rent is due on the 1st of each month, and late charges begin on the 4th day of each month, at which time a Late Notice is issued, and late charges will continue to be added daily until the full balance is paid.
If rent has not been paid by the 10th of the month, and arrangements to pay have not been made, a 3-Day Notice to Pay Rent or Quit will be issued.
IMPORTANT: Do not ignore a 3-Day Notice to Pay Rent or Quit! Unless paid, or acceptable arrangements to pay are made within these 3 days, this will result in all daily late charges at the full rate stated in your lease being charged, along with attorney fees, court filing fees, and writ fees. This can add up to a significant amount in addition to the amount of rent owed.

Five winners this month will receive this unique skin moisturizer, recently proven in two double-blind clinical studies to outperform Eucerin, the brand most doctors recommend.
Renew Intensive Skin Therapy is a therapeutic moisturizer that delivers hours of moisturizing relief. The only dry skin therapy of its kind, it combines allantoin with the soothing, penetrating power of T35-C5 Melaleuca Oil to pull moisture deep into your skin, so it won't wash off. As it penetrates, allantoin helps to actually form a protective seal against moisture loss, and keeps working...even after repeated washing. The unique properties of T36-C5 Melaleuca Oil help naturally soothe dry skin irritation.
In the first clinical study, when compared to Eucerin, Renew attracted fives times more moisture after 14 days. And skin’s ability to retain moisture improved by more than seven times versus Eucerin. What do these numbers mean for severely dry skin? Because Renew makes it easier to attract and retain moisture, Renew literally helps skin heal itself—it puts an end to dry skin.
The second clinical study evaluated Renew’s ability to improve the chronic dry skin symptoms associated with eczema. When participants with eczema used Renew, the clinical study found that their severely dry skin saw significant improvements in redness, itching, flaking, and scaling. Renew users showed a higher level of hydration in eczema-prone skin than Eucerin users.
